A not-so-famous saying, not old, but oh so true...

One of my all-time favorite quotations about being true to yourself comes from the indomitable Bette Midler.

"Hold on to the thing that makes you unique, 'cause you're really a yawn if it goes."

And the Divine Miss M is nothing if not unique... and look where it's got her.

This quote reminds us to cherish the things about ourselves that are different, unique, special. To celebrate them rather than try to hide them. To me, it's the best modern spin on the truly famous old saying "To thine own self be true." (Shakespeare - said by Polonius to Laertes in Hamlet.)
