The Story of the Bottled Kisses

A Brief History of the Bottle

Since its origin, thousands of years ago, the bottle has gone through many transformations. Originally, its primary use was for storing water. However, bottles also served an important role as holding vessels for kisses.

Both substances (water and kisses) were extremely precious to those who lived long ago. Water was gotten from wells, streams, or rivers - not the spigot! And loved ones afar off could hardly express their love by means of the telephone, email, or texting.

Bottles also played an integral role in the lives of sailors and pirates. Should one be a castaway or find himself shipwrecked, he could receive help simply by placing a message in a bottle and setting it off to sea.

In more recent times, bottles are used for storing a variety of things such as shampoo, prescriptions, ketchup, mustard and soda. For a while, even tiny model ships were delicately placed in bottles for display purposes.

Although water bottles have regained their popularity, the bottle’s usefulness for storing kisses has been forgotten... until now.
