Farming is not easy if you do it full time.

by amy byrd
(Iron City, TN)

"Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the corn field." Dwight D. Eisenhower

This is my favorite phrase. If you do this for a living without all the government help then you know what I am talking about.

If you sit in an office and think that it would be fun to farm and that it's an easy job then you need to really hear this quote.

It is from Eisenhower, so that makes it even better. A President of the USA knew that farming was important and hard work.

I have one more, but it is not from someone famous and there is not much of a story behind it. I am just adding it to share it.

My Uncle's mother was a snuff dipping, hair net wearing, small old woman. She walked around in a moo-moo all the time with a snuff jar in her hand.

She came down the hall at my Uncle's House on a cold morning, and in front of all of us children there said, "It is colder that a witches bleep in a brass bra in here."

I think my Aunt about passed out from the embarrassment of that moment, but forever sticks in my mind. Now that I am older, I find it really funny.
