How About a Date?
by L&F
(Home Every Weekend)

Dear Dr. Julia,
I have TERRIBLE luck with the chicks.
My longest "relationship" didn't last more than six weeks and I haven't had a date for months!
And how to meet someone and get a date? Just walk up and say, "How about a date?"
No, I don't think so.
I'm at a loss. I just don't understand how to meet women.
What should I do?
Signed,
Lonely and Frustrated!
Dear L&F,
I don't think it's bad "luck" that you're having. Nor do I think that understanding women is the particular solution.
I will say, simple respect seems to be missing when you refer to women as "chicks".

I understand completely your frustration when it comes to meeting new people. In my line of work, I meet new folks all the time. None of which, would I say, are stable enough to date.
First things first, L&F - relax.
Really try not to dwell on the fact that you're desperate.
After all, desperate people do desperate things... which leads to big mistakes (brought on by bad choices) in the long run.
Next, make yourself
available. Available to friends and family. Available to help them move, to go their child's birthday party, to give them a ride to work, what have you.
You never know who
they know and who just might be there. An introduction could be a mere birthday party away.
What to say to her when you meet her? Hopefully, given the proper circumstances, the exchange will flow naturally.

But whatever you do,
DON'T use the term "chick" upon your initial meeting!
