I didn't get where I am today by being somewhere else!

I absolutely love this line.
It comes from a British TV series called The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin.
Perrin had a boss who (like many I have known) talked 100% pure bologna. ***edited for sensitive readers - like Dr. J***
His boss's favourite saying was "I didn't get where I am today by......." The blank was whatever Reginald had just done.
The TV series was a bit tedious and irritating, but this line will always stick in my mind. Probably because I've ALWAYS been somewhere else.
