I Didn't Want the Divorce
Dear Dr. Julia,
I have been separated from my husband for three year's now. He is living in Tennessee with his girlfriend that he left me for.
Just before he left he asked for a divorce. Well, I am still waiting on it. I have tried to get it three times and every time he has refused it.
I don't understand why when he is the one that asked for - it not me.
We can talk about things other than the divorce (and when his girlfriend is not around him) we talk, but as soon as the divorce comes up or his girlfriend is around, I don't hear from him for a while.
I just don't understand why. I am hoping you can help me understand that.
Dear "Where's this divorce you mentioned?",
You know, sometimes people are a little ego bound.
Imagine how your husband must feel. Let's see... he's got himself a girlfriend and a wife on the side. Usually, guys have girlfriends on the side. So, your husband has it a bit backwards.
Still, must be great for him to have two women desiring his attention.
As long as you entertain your husband in conversation (that isn't straight forward "business" talk) you are doing nothing less than stroking his ego.
If you were me, you would decide what you truly want and what really is the best thing for you and your family.
That's probably the most difficult part. Because you've got ridiculous emotions going on right now, what you think you want and what you think is best can change from day to day.
One thing's for sure, and you need to remember it... you are NOT the other woman. You are The woman.
Try to keep your head... it's something we chickens strive to do our entire lives.
