I Was the Crummy Date

(Pa, USA)

Too Cool To Date

Too Cool To Date

I will tell you my crummy date experience that was totally my fault. Try not to hold it against me as I was very young and stupid.

I don't even understand why I did what I did (?)

Several centuries ago, I was out walking my dog. I should say walking with my dog. Because really, wherever I went I took that doggy with me.

As I am going down the road, this red convertible with two guys drive by.

One of the guys shouts out to me, "Hey, wanna go to a Tom Petty concert?"

I shout back, "Sure!"

I still can see the look of surprise on the one guy's face. I guess he totally did not expect me to say yes. lol

The car quickly pulls over and I give the young man my phone number and address and we set the time for him to pick me up.

On the day of the concert (which may have been that very evening - I can't remember) he comes to my door and off we go.

We go to a rather fancy restaurant, (that I don't remember being a part of the initial deal) then on to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Now, keep in mind that this young man was polite, respectable, and not lacking on good looks as I continue.

When we get to my house at the end of a pretty cool evening, he asks, "Can I call you again?"

Without hesitation I say (like I'm some Arthur Fonzarelli super cool) "No."

That was the last time I saw that nice guy.

I guess, in my warped mind, I just was going to a concert - not out on a "date".

After a few years passed, I started to think what a jerk I was LOL. But the guy was probably better off anyway.

I have a bunch of kids now and I don't think that they could fit into that tiny convertible of his.
