Taking in a stray without asking the wife?

by AMK
(Norway)

My 9 month old belgian sheepdog

My 9 month old belgian sheepdog

I have one Belgian Shepherd, one cat and two adopted boys. Only the cat was brought into the family without my wife knowing about it.

Question: A lady is giving away a 9 week old Labrador/Collie because she is allergic to dogs. I asked lots of friends and nobody wants it.

The lady may have it terminated. If I ask my wife for permission she will say NO! Therefore, I wonder if I should just go get the puppy and hope it grows on her??

What do you think?

I could get you in trouble!
by: Lora

What a beautiful dog! He looks like a lone wolf... gorgeous!

I am not a good example to follow, I'll tell you that. Have you seen my About Us page?

I brought home everything! Although I wasn't permitted to keep the majority of what I brought home (and some for good reason) there was a small percentage that did end up staying.

If I really wanted the pup I would sneak him in and take my chances.

But obviously, it has to stop at some point or you could end up with.... well, what I have.

Honesty Policy
by: Dr. Julia

Never listen to Lora when it comes to pets. The amount of cats she houses is grounds enough to have her institutionalized.

I have often heard dogs use the old, "but I'll end up in the pound" routine just to make their way into your home.

But if you truly believe the dog and his story, you are served better by trying to convince your wife to agree.

Show your wife pictures of the pup, tell her his story, watch a sad movie such as Old Yeller to tug at her heart strings.

If you really want to win her over, write a poem about it - that should do the trick.

Regards,

Happily a nice farmer took the dog :-)

The stray has a home
by: Anonymous

Happily they found a nice farmer to take him! However, I have no doubt that I would have taken him if nobody else did!

My wife now acknowledging my great love for stray animals, says she will be more careful mentioning things like this in the future!

Whatever way you look at it, the odd stray here and there will never use up my visa as much as the wife does :-)
